Nikos was born in St. Dimitrios, a small village on the historical mountain of Mount Olympus. From an early age he was a keen sportsman, running up the highest mountains and bareback horse riding.
In 1964, when he was 14 years old he moved to Athens. There he found football. He signed up to play professional football with F.A. AEK Athens Juniors.
In 1966, he learnt to water-ski and decided to quit football to devote more time to water-ski. He joined the National Greek Water-ski Team and competed worldwide. A few years later he became one of Greece’s top water-skiers, excelling in the jump.
In 1970 he went to Florida to work and to continue his water-ski training. In 1974 he started his own water sport business “Corfu Ski Club” in Corfu, Greece, which he still operates today.
